Zombies

It’s been eleven days since the  the start of the zombie apocalypse. It started out with just a few,  ten, but then their numbers increased vastly. Our small army was quickly overcome. Among the undead , my brother, my father , and a few others. These zombies are not like the ones in the movies …..they’re smarter. Everything was fine until the zombies came. Just me playing the computer and having fun. No! they found me….raugh.

Pros and Cons of The Community

Author's Note: I wrote this piece to demonstrate my understanding of pros and cons

What would it be like to live in a community where everything appears perfect?  What if all decisions were made for you?  In the book The Giver, by Lois Lowry, the main character Jonas lives in a community where all the choices are made for the citizens.  There are many pros and cons to living in a community like this.

A positive thing about this community is that the elders pick the right job for you. This is good because you don’t have to worry about picking your job. Another reason is that you don’t worry about picking the wrong job. A last reason is that you get more time for your family.

Another thing is that the elders pick the right person who you will marry. A reason why this is good is because you don’t have to search who you like. Another reason why this is good because you don’t have to worry about divorce. A last  reason is not having to  pick who you mary gives some time to yourself.

A negative thing about this community is that they never give you the power of choice.  A reason is that you can’t pick who you marry. Another reason is that you can’t pick your job. The last reason is that you can’t pick who you really want to marry.
Another bad thing is that you get released.  A reason why this is bad because they will kill you. Also they released the old and the unhealthy babies.  The last reason is that when you are released you will never see your family again.

This community appears perfect and makes the choices for you.I would like to live in this community because i won’t have to search for my job or who i will marry. Even though I will get released and I won’t have the power of choice i still want to live there.

The Ghost,The White House , and Me

Author's note: I wrote this piece to demonstrate my understanding of sentence fluency

What would it be like to live in the White House? In the book The Ghost,The White House.   When their mom was elected president, Kaykay and Annie moved into the White House.  They heard that Lincoln's ghost still haunts the White House, so the girls decided to prank their uncle.  Their uncle was staying over for a night in Lincoln’s old bedroom. The girls did a lot of planning, so I predict that the prank will work for them.

The first part of the plan was to use an ipod dock  to broadcast the Gettysburg Address into Lincoln’s bedroom. By making the speech loud enough, they made sure it would would wake up their uncle and scare him.

Kaykay and Annie's friend, Borden, tells the girls that Lincoln’s ghost always knocks. So at 3:00 am, they knocked at the door of Lincoln’s bedroom to scare their uncle.

This book is similar to “Hamburger Halpin”  because “Hamburger Halpin” also featured a ghost even though the ghost is not the culprit. Another similarity is that both main characters of “Hamburger Halpin” and  The Ghost,The White House, and Me have delicious food to eat.

I predict that the prank will work because of the effort of the two girls.   Kaykay and Annie had many parts of a plan to scare their uncle.  Since I liked reading about pranks in the White House, I hope that the author of The Ghost,The White House, and Me will continue to write more books like this.

Sacrifice in Ribbons

Author's note: I wrote this piece to demonstrate my understanding of sacrifices.

What if you had to sacrifice most of the objects you liked?  In “Ribbons”, by Laurence Yep, Stacy’s grandmother comes to live with her and her family.  Both Stacy and her grandma had to sacrifice a great deal of their things

For Stacy she had to sacrifice most of her objects.  The objects she had to sacrifice were ballet, her favorite TV shows, her room, and her ice cream bar.  She may get most of her objects back but of course not her ice cream bar.

Stacy’s grandma also had to sacrifice plenty of her things too.  The grandma had to sacrifice her feet, her furniture, and her home.  She may get some of her objects but not all of her stuff back.

In “Ribbons” there are an abundance of sacrifices by Stacy and her grandma, but both of them will get most of their objects back.

Percy and Jason

Author's Note: I wrote this piece to demonstrate my understanding of  intros

What if the two main characters of The Mark of Athena started fighting to see which one was stronger? In The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan, the two main characters, Percy and Jason, sail to Rome to stop Gaea's forces. In trying to do this, Percy gets into trouble and Jason tries to save him. Throughout the book there are many similarities and differences between the two strong characters, Percy and Jason.
One similarity is that they're both sons of the Big Three. Percy Jackson is the son of Jason, Grace is the son of Zeus. Both gods broke their promise by having Jason and Percy.

Another similarity is that they both went to each others camp. Jason went to Camp-Halfblood while Percy went to the Roman camp. Hera, the queen of the gods, put them in the other’s camp to make peace between both camps.

One last similarity is that they both have special horses. Percy has a Pegasus named Blackjack. Jason has a Storm Spirit Horse named Tempest.

Besides similarities, there are also differences between these two characters. One main difference is how they got their horses. Percy saved his Pegasus from Luke, while Jason took control of his Storm Spirit Horse. Another difference is that Jason’s dad is the king of the gods while Percy’s dad is Zeus’ brother. The last difference is that  Percy is Greek and Jason is Roman.

Even though Percy and Jason may never fight, both of them are strong and heroic characters. I will continue to read more of Rick Riordan's series to see what will happen to these two characters.

Dewy and his rubber bands

Oh no dewy give back that rubber band Dewy is a library cat that likes to steal rubber bands and eats  them he once stole a giant rubber band we thought we hid all the bands but in a coffe mug there are  rubber bands in it. So we put a cover on it and the next day latter there were bite marks on the cover
So it was the coffee mug was dewy source of rubber bands.

Now dewy  loves catnip give him a little bit and he will go crazy and start rolling around on the floor.
He even snakes around like he has no spine. After while he calms down . Dewy  loves the needles on a fake Christmas tree.

Thanks to dewy antics the library is more fun. Dewy is not like any other cat, he is a friend.

One Piece and Letter Bee

Author's note: I wrote this piece to demostrate my understanding of compare and contrast

What if One Piece and Letter Bee were pitted against each other to see which book is better? I am comparing the two books One Piece and Letter Bee and their two main characters. The two main characters are Luffy and Lag. Both characters have many similarities and differences.

One of the similarities is that they both have really strange animals. Luffy’s strange animal is a deer that can transform into all these cool forms including a giant deer form. Lag’s strange animal is a creature called Steak that when someone cooks him, his fur curls.

Another similarity is they both have strange powers.
Lag’s strange power is he can make a piece of his heart resonate in monsters, which destroys.Luffy’s strange power is that he  can stretch his body like rubber.

They both have friends that they count on. Luffy counts on his first mate, Zoro, who is a swordsman. Lag counts on his friend, Niche, whose hair is the golden sword.

A difference is that Luffy is more courageous than Lag. Luffy is more upbeat than Lag and because of that, Lag cries more than Luffy. This last difference is that Lag’s mom is alive and Luffy’s dad is alive.

Luffy and Lag may be two different characters but they have similarities and differences. One Piece and Letter Bee may be two different books but they are very good books and I will continue to read them.

gs rock

What would it be like if you were a girl scout? You would have a lot of fun being a girl scout, here let me tell you.

The First fun thing we do is we go on all these cool trips. One of The trips we went on was going to Chicago. Another trip we did was going to a recycling center and seeing how they make soda bottles into carpets. A third trip we did was laser tag i got a some prizes

The second one is we can hang out  with all our friends. How, we have regular meetings every month and silver award meetings. The regular meetings are for girl scout matters and the silver award meetings are for planning our projects.

In the summer we go to all these fun girl scout camps. The camp i attend is called Camp winding river. I am a PA there. I get to swim , canoe , and do all these fun crafts.

One last thing is the awards. The three awards are The Bronze Award , The Silver Award, and last but not least The gold award to get these you have to do a lot of work however when you do it with your friends it’s like a party.

In the end with all these things to do ,Girl scouts is the best thing ever invented.

RIP Rachel

In life and in death she was nice, pretty, and very fun loving. She will be missed. Without her, there will be a great hole left in the town. Rachel  had so many friends and liked to just have fun. We do not know why that man shot her. Let us hope that the police are looking into the case.

Rachel Ward, age 14, left behind her mother, her father, sister Stevie, brother Vince, two pets Oscar and Jessica and many friends.  Rachel was a 8th grader at ASA Clark Middle School.  She was a cheerleader and a Girl Scout.  Some of Rachel’s favorite things to do were to paint, watch videos on her Ipad, read, and run around like a crazy nut.  She also liked to swim, ride her  bike and make up stories.

Rachel will be missed greatly by those she knew.  They will miss her laughter, silliness and creativity.  Let us hope that she may rest in peace and the person her took her from her loved ones is in jail.  Continue to have fun in heaven Rachel.

Prince Trellis

Author's note: I wrote this piece to demonstrate my understanding of Character Development

If your father was the elf king what would you do? In the Amulet by Kazu kibuishi Trellises father is the king of elves. In the begning  of the Amulet Prince Trellises  is evil. However he  changes into a good person in the end.

Trellises is stonekeeper like Em. A reason that Trellises is evil is because he took em’s mother.
Another reason that he’s evil is that he attacked Em and tried to make her evil.  Finally he sent some of his men after Em to kill her but she got away.

The catalysts in this story is when one of his own men attack him and left him in a forest to die.
trellis saved Em from another evil stone keeper. He also saved Em’s  mother from a man who was trying to kill her.

In the overall story Prince Trellis changed. If Trellis changed then anyone can change for better or worse.

Count. Dracula

Author's note: I wrote this piece to demostrate my understanding of Point of View

Extra extra, read all about it! Count Dracula tells his side of the story. Hello, I am count Dracula now behave kids or I will drink your blood. The book Dracula tells the story from everybody’s point of view but mine.

So I did bite those two girls but I was hungry and they looked so good. You are probably wondering why I hired that man. I did that because I wanted his blood and I needed to find a place to put all 50 of my coffins.

If  the book was written in my point of view,  you would act a bit nicer to me
You would probably be angry at those mean humans . It shows you that point of view  is important in a story

Well kids that’s all I have for today thank you for behaving nicely. Point of view is important in every story because it gives the reader different feelings about all the characters .

Oscar

Author's note: I wrote this piece to demonstrate my understanding of creative pieces

Taste
If my dog Oscar was food, he would melt in your mouth like a piece of dark chocolate. Oscar would feel like a big and fluffy marshmallow in my mouth. When I swim with Oscar, he is like ice cream cooling me down on a hot summer day.
Touch
When I pet my dog’s ears they are as smooth as silk. However, when I rub my dog’s belly, it jiggles like jello. The pads of my dog’s paws are rough like sandpaper when I hold one of his paws.
See
At night, my dog Oscar is like a shadow of darkness. When Oscar plays in the snow he is cute
as a bunny. When the sun shines on Oscar his fur shines like gold.
Smell
When Oscar farts its like a stink bomb went off. Also, Oscar’s breath is like garbage. When I get too close to him, it feels like someone threw a fish at my nose.
Hear
Oscar’s bark is like a lion’s roar. When Oscar grumbles it’s like a volcano going off.  However, when Oscar does not do any of these things he is silent as a Ninja.

Author's note: I wrote this piece to demonstrate my ability of creative pieces

Taste
Marshmallows and chocolates are my two favorite desserts.  Eating marshmallows is like eating clouds while enjoying their fluffy goodness. Chocolate melts in your mouth like a wave of deliciousness.
Touch
When I pet my dog’s ears they are as smooth as silk. However when I rub my dog’s belly, it jiggles like jello. The pads of my dog’s paws are rough like sandpaper when I hold one of his paws.
See
Our Christmas tree is like a party to my eyes. Snow to my eyes are like little crystals.  At night, my dog Oscar is a shadow of darkness.
Smell
When the Christmas cookies are done, a wave of goodness swims in to my nose.  The pine needles poke at my nose like sharp needles.  The warm aroma of the fire floats through my nose
Hear
Oscar’s bark is like a lion’s roar. The wind howled like a child screaming. The crackling of the fire is music to my ears.
