What if the two main characters of The Mark of Athena started fighting to see which one was stronger? In The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan, the two main characters, Percy and Jason, sail to Rome to stop Gaea's forces. In trying to do this, Percy gets into trouble and Jason tries to save him. Throughout the book there are many similarities and differences between the two strong characters, Percy and Jason.
One similarity is that they're both sons of the Big Three. Percy Jackson is the son of Jason, Grace is the son of Zeus. Both gods broke their promise by having Jason and Percy.
Another similarity is that they both went to each others camp. Jason went to Camp-Halfblood while Percy went to the Roman camp. Hera, the queen of the gods, put them in the other’s camp to make peace between both camps.
One last similarity is that they both have special horses. Percy has a Pegasus named Blackjack. Jason has a Storm Spirit Horse named Tempest.
Besides similarities, there are also differences between these two characters. One main difference is how they got their horses. Percy saved his Pegasus from Luke, while Jason took control of his Storm Spirit Horse. Another difference is that Jason’s dad is the king of the gods while Percy’s dad is Zeus’ brother. The last difference is that Percy is Greek and Jason is Roman.
Even though Percy and Jason may never fight, both of them are strong and heroic characters. I will continue to read more of Rick Riordan's series to see what will happen to these two characters.
